Day 31 - NSTR...

Nothing Special To Report!!
Those abs feel good (after and not during) but not sure I'm ready yet for the 8 mins workout!
The knee seems to quiet down a bit but I still have to watch out!
Funnily enough, I miss a bit our normal push ups! I even surprised myself by doing a few this morning! hahahha
Addiction!!

Day 30 - Mini milestone.

We have officially passed 1/3 of the PCP and I can only do 2/3 of the exercises.. That's problematic!
My knee still hurts without medication and cant do anything involving the flex... :(
So yes I swim to replace the skipping but no legs exercises at the moment. and when I read Patrick's email today, I got worried... "extra push on the legs".. .I'm gonna be far behind! Hopefully I'll find a way to catch up!
I guess you all guys are suffering because of the legs exercises... I wish you good luck!
I quite like the fact that some muscles get a 1 day rest... my shoulders are the most painful these days... especially with free style swimming... double dose! :)
Anyeays.. enough with myt blablabla...

Day 29 - Pain pain pain.... (To not mix up with "bread")

Got uop  at 5:40AM this morning to see what Patrick had prepared for us...
Did my exercises... cooked my breakfast, packed it (with my lunch) and went straight to the gym for my daily swim... God I'm missing my rope!
At the office now, had my breakfast but.... finally.... got my medecine!!!! I couldn't wait for it...
since 3PM yesterday... I feel a bit like Dr Greg House and his vicodine... but I waited as much as I could... did all my exercises... That's maybe why I really needed it... Now, waiting for it to kick in... Feeling my heart beat in my knee and you know what guys? I'M ALIVE!!! :)
Let's hope this pain will be over soon!

Day 28 - Skwipming....

After such a long time without... 2 days in a row swimming is tough!!!
Just got back to my half an hour swim and 1000m... shameful!!! but hey it's been a while.
At least I have the look! Cap, googles, speedo! muhahaha... can only get better from here.

The problem is that all is getting longer now to do everything... need to plan a better organization...

Also the knee... 2 painkillers a day are not enough... took the first one at 7AM.... at 3PM I couldn't wait cause of the pain so I had the second one.... which makes me think I might be in pain around bed time...

PS : I would kill for a plate of pasta! or rice!.. or carbs!!!! Guess need to swim in the morning.

Day 27 - Double Katana = double PCP

Because of my stupid knee I now have to split the sessions in two...
Did my exercises this AM (Dam the double katana!!!) and will go to the pool in the afternoon! That's gonna be interesting as I used to be a swimmer in junior high (8h a week) and then... well nothing... I started to smoke and couldn't obviously get my breath right. Now I'm off the smoke and I'm a PCPer! There's hope I could have fun!!!!

End of week 4 pictures! Starting to be happy with the love boat... errrr... the love handles! :)



Also decided to track the progress on my back (as I really never noticed it before)

Day 26 - Pit stop : hospital...

It sucks!!!

Stressed knees joint... 1 week anti-inflammatory medication... 2 weeks of rest recommended...
Again, it sucks...

I'm going to replace the skipping with swimming as doc said it was ok... but I wont be able to do the legs exercises as they are now for something like 2 weeks... i dont mind swimming but i'm afraid it will take me more time daily for doing everything... not like I have plenty of time!

Pat, let me know if you have any ideas!

Doctor was good and explained me a couple of good stuff... but I feel really down as we almost done with the first month and now this....

Anyways,,, did the upper body exercises today... Thanks god my gym has a pool.

Day 25 - Yellow card...

I should be sent to the sin bin.....
Yesterday I was taking out an important client and his team to the white collar boxing.... Been a serious PCPer, I asked before the event to prepare a special meal wit no salt, no butter, no oil.... For Vitto (group ahead) and I... The food was a lot less good than what we have at home but at least it was PCP compliance.... The food in my neighbors's plates didn't attract me that much... I'd say I don't have special cravings and the diner went well (not enough greens I think) except... the wine.... Maybe I have a sixth sense and was thinking about today Patrick's email about having my indulgence stuff... During the diner I had two glasses... still compliance... a bit early but compliance...
Special mention for my PCP god father who's just so good with al the rules! Chapeau bas...

The BIG problem went after.... Clients willing to go out. Let's go!!!! ouch.... Champagne, Vodka on the table.... I fell for champagne... I'd say I had 3 glasses..... and this morning... well... when Tanya woke me up I was :
"No thanks, I won;t do my exercises this morning... this afternoon will be fine...zzzz
_errrrr... It's 7:30AM!!!
_ Oh F....!!!!"
And off to the shower... eating brekkie that Tanya (thank you so much) prepared for me and off to work... with the food that Tanya prepared as well (I know, I'm a lucky chap!).
I have to say, I was hungover.... but still..... without the cigs I left behind me and the 20 something days o training, I was fine! not feeling awful!
Went for my exercises in the afternoon... got back on the rope... and suffered like crazy with all the exercises!!! (I switched pull-downs with pull-ups)... but the combo pull-ups/push-ups/triceps is a killer!!!!

Finally I think I learnt my lesson.... over with alcohol (at least with getting drunk!!!!). it's too horrible the next day!

On the dark side tho.... My knee is not getting better at all.... couldn't do the floor jumps (and obviously struggled with the rope but I had to do those jumps). But enough is enough... going to see the Doc tomorrow... I guess I'm good for an MRI... I hope am gonna be ok otherwise.... what am I gonna do???
Swiming just using my arms? I need that exercises... love handles are on their way out and I need the tummy to go with them as well!!! and Skipping is definitely a great artisan of this disappearance .

Day 23 - Failure to launch..

This morning I woke up, I got up on my left foot.... bad idea... as soon as my body weight was on my left leg, I felt like my knee was going to give away... Not a good start! So, again, skip the skipping (will try tomorrow anyways as I think it's not coming from the skips)...
Exercises went fine except it's not fun att all to do them "cold"... I really enjoy to work out after skipping...
I thought the abs were quite easy but from mid 3rd set, I regretted that thought... Even tho, it was fun!
IT IS FUN!!!

Day 22 - Half full... or Half empty...

After the great week-end enjoying the skipping, I was a bit scared of my knee + ankle giving up....
I don't know if it's during the lunges or not but the sunday night was horrible... My knee hurt a lot... not a pain muscle but more like if I twisted it... every step feklt like the knee was going to fail on me and I was going to end up flat...really feel like a small sprain...
I then decided to skip the skipping yesterday (day 21) and this morning... I tried to the squats, but same... as I was going fown and up, I felt my knee weakened... So I had to skip this as well and go directly to the other exercises....
I think I might have to give one more day a miss on the skipping... Better be safe than feel sorry...
I was impatient to see our week training and diet... exercises wise, no surprises... glad to see some new exercises to cut the routine... Diet wise, sad to see my beloved carbs disappearing at night but hey! I won some milk and fruits! cant be more happy to have a little night snack!

Hopefully I can be back on the rope really soon! missing the sweat already!

Here in Hong Kong, we went directly from winter to summer! hot hot hot!

Day 20 - Change in my routine

It's been a couple of days I have't been writing...
That's because I changed my routine a bit... For the last days this week I havent been able to get up so I did my exercise later during the day and then forgot about blogging!
The training and diet are going fine... Just some worries about my left knee (still) and my back... I might switch the skipping with something else today even tho I'm starting to be a skip addict... I even surprised myself doing some more after the physical exercises yesterday!

Fun fact... Yesterday we went to watch The King's speech (great movie) and people all around were eating hot dogs and pop corn.... The smell almost made me sick! Didnt make me craving at all for it! I guess it's a good sign! :)

Day 15 - Early birds

First alarm shouting in my ears at 5:35AM this morning for the first time! SNOOZE.....
Second time 5:44... Come on, get up!
And I did... time to get a pair of socks, a tee shirt and a short and up to the roof! started at almost 6AM... I tried to bput a bit of rythm in my skipping and exercises and finished by 6:30AM.. 10 min stretching and now time to prepare breakfast and stuf... God the mornings are a tight schedule...
But as someone I know would say, feeling like a million bucks!

Day 14 - Bring the 800 on...

Did them... not in a row tho but all getting much better.... skills helping me jump from one feet to another... change pace, etc... the breath is less "short" (I'm glad I dont smoke anymore)... and the calves not as painful (at least not as the same time)!
All in all it's good!
Waiting to see what await us tomorrow...

Day 13 - Back...

Why is my back hurting more than anything else... especially when I'm doing abs...
Guess wrong posture... or old war injury... annoying tho... slowing me down...

Today is beautiful outside and it was a pleasure to exercise in the sun!
I even almost enjoyed my skipping with some new tricks... I' far from the 700 in a row tho...

Day 11 - Lunch time everyone!!!


Never thought I could have so many different veggies and meat/fish/poultry/seafood in one little bento box!

Day 11 - A bit ran down...

Not a great training today...
left ankle hurts
sharp pain in the calves (normal)
recurrent left knee (meniscus)
and lower back pain...
Appart fromt that everything's good!

On the positive side, I finally slept well last night and it's friday!!!!

Cant wait for the week end to rest a bit more! and will try to find those kids matresses to do the skipping on!

Day 10 - A first pillar down...

I've been following the group ahead posts as they were talking about the 50th day mile-stone....
I can tell you for me, it's gonna go 10 by 10! and 10 I've done today...
My legs are really sore,.... but the jumping is getting a bit better even with a painful knee (have to watch that)...
Abs starting to get really naughty but I like that!
And food is ok! even managed to BBQ some lean lamb last night with a lot of spices! yummy!

Day 9 - I'm skippiiiiing in the rain....

6AM... couldnt get out the bed... but I did eventually... went up to the roof.... yewww raining... no problem... leave the resistance inside and start skipping in the rain... did the 600 but not satisfied yet.... my legs are killing me. And it took me too much time...

Day 8 - Did you say diet?!?

Yesterday night was preparation time! I'm glad I did (do) the training in the morning as it gave me time or actually it gave Tanya's time (thank you T) to prepare today's luch and snack! I can tell you... when I saw the bento (lunch box), it's more than what I'm used to! and I'm not even talking about the breakfast!!! I'm usually the type to have a coffee and off to the office... Never really had a breakfast, except mybe in high school...
So what a surprise this morning when I had to cook so much! I almost couldnt finish the all lot.. had to leave a bite of toast! but my tomatoe/eggs were great!

Now the training... well... I had the training obviously before that huge breakfast... but let's talk about it! The jumprope is still a real frustration as I cant manage to do a huge serie without tripping... but I'll get there!
Physically, I just tend to get to the limit during the before last session... the last one is always a killer... but it's a good thing!

The all program is just getting a bit longer and it's getting tough to do everything before work... but it's my choice! Cant see myself finishing the day at work and coming home to train! The morning it is! The morning it will stay!

Day 7 - Monday Bloody Monday...

Failure could be the summarry of the day 7 training... The program although didnt look too complicated, 500 jumps, it was a struggle for me...
To start well, I stripped after 20 jumps... surreal... well, I wasnt well awake. For my defense, it was 6:30...
Start from scratch... the problem is after just above 200, I couldnt jump anymore... my calves were killing me and my breath was short (heart racing obviously)... I obviously tripped and couldnt start right away.. .I strecthed my painful calves and got back on track... I had to stop a couple of more...
I'm really disapointed.. Even tho I knew it would be tough, I didnt think I would s... that much! back to reality... A week is starting... and waiting to see what the program for PCP week 2 is!

Day 6 - Happy sunday

Sunday and I feel lazy,... so I won't write much!
Did my exercises and looking forward to see how much out of the 500 jumps I will be able to make in a row tomorrow.! But glad I'm gonna give my muscles a rest! Basketball yesterday killed my legs.

Day 5 - The Hangover

Appart from being the title of a decently funny movie, it's also what I got this morning.. and this wasn't from my exercises (yet)!!!
A friend told me a couple of days ago "well, even if you drink half what you usually drink on fridays, the result will be the same...". He was right! Even without much drinks, I ended up drunk! I guess a bit less of food and a bit more of exercises made my body allergic to the booze! which is not a bad thing!

So, two things today! A bad news and a good news!

The bad news is, I struggled today... jumps were ok even if I was getting lost on my counts and number of reps! I actually think I did six! that's cool tho...
Squats were fine... but push ups.. I had to do the last rep knees down.. and the last two sit-ups of each reps were killers! all in all, pretty satisfying as I feel much better now! And going to play some basketball this afternoon!

The good news is... I wont have to experience PCPing with a hangover ever again!!! And that's a lot!! :)

I'm hearing Tanya's complaining about writing my blog in the morning... keep up Misses!

Day 4 - TGIF !!!

Good morning all!

Not sure TGIF will have the same meaning for the next three months... even maybe forever as entering the PCP, there's no "days off"... But still, quite happy this week is coming to an end!

Day 4 exercises complete!... Even if my jumping skills are not too bad, I'm still wondering how I'm gonnna manage 500 jumps in one go. That will be interesting but that will be for monday night. as for today, I work my lunges a bit better today going lower with my bending knee and it's much better.
As for the push ups, I had to finish the last two reps knees down but I'll get there!
And finally, the legs up... I must do something wrong as even with mys hands flat under my butt, I still have a lower back pain which kind of cuts my breath. Strange desu!

Even if it's really difficult to get up that early in the morning (and it's only day 4), it is so nice when you realise you're done with your day, you can through your day at work without thinking OMG I'm tired I dont want to train tonight, or I'll see if my feet drag me to the gym... Morning sessions are for me the best. When your day is off, it's relaxing time!

I have to say I feel like my body is starting to wake up and it feels good!!!

Day 3 - The bur...

What is "The bur.." ?...
It's easy... you have to think half! and not half thinking.
The bur was my yesterday night (D2) meal... and just to remind me, let's look at it!

It's nice, isn't it? one half for Tanya and one half for me... I have to say, the food is not really a problem even tho as I love it, I could have eat the whole thing! obviously.

What was difficullt was this morning.... I couldnt get up and it's only Day 3... I had a such a bad night, I felt tired just by waking up... but here we go! Let's move that fat! So I got up, took my equipment to the roof and... it's drizzling... no problem! Jumping on the roof, exercises in the appartment!
15~20 mins later, happy I've done it... but can I go back to bed now? NO.,.. have a quick breakfast and go to the office!!!

That's better become a routine... otherwise mornings will be tough!!

Day 2 - Morning session

Day 2. We've decided to fo our exercise in the morning... and I have to say... it is tough to get up! :)
Once you're at it it's fine... 2nd day and I'm already conncerned about my knee tho... Left one hurts and I haven't done yet close to a thousand jumps... I guess I will strap it from now to get some support!
Is it me or the push ups with the bars are slightly more difficult! I guess it's me!
Let's see how we'll do today with half the food!

Day 1 - Bed time

Day1... Did my training...

PCP Day 1!

Feeling like xmas this morning with a little present in the mailbox...
Instead of presents, training exercises.. .instead of cookies... well... half a cookie!
I will have to do the training tonight and am looking forward to the next couple of days!
